Remove the Old Driveway
We begin by digging out your existing driveway down approximately 8-10 inches. This allows us to remove any old, damaged asphalt and prepare the site for the new driveway.
During this stage, we also assess and address any underlying issues, such as drainage problems, to prevent future damage to your new driveway.
Add Stone & Grade the Stone
We'll bring stone to form the base and grade the driveway. If the driveway is not roped off you may drive on the stone during this phase. The driveway will be rolled and fine-tuned the day of paving. Our office will call you the day before or the morning of paving to notify you that we are coming.
Apply the Stage I Binder
Your driveway will be roped off upon completion. You may walk on the driveway after 1 day and drive on it after 5-7 days.
Your Stage I binder must go through one “freeze-thaw” period. After the driveway has undergone winter conditions we can lay the Stage II Topcoat.
Apply the Stage II Topcoat
This is the finish layer and consists of approximately 2-3″ of finer asphalt material. When the driveway is complete we’ll put a rope up at the end of the driveway. You may walk on it after 2 days and drive on it after 5-7 days.
Your current driveway may only need the Stage II Topcoat portion depending on it’s current condition. We'll recommend the best option for you in our estimate.
Sealing
While sealing is a separate service, it is an essential part of maintaining your driveway. Sealing protects the asphalt from damage caused by water, UV rays, and chemicals.
